Ovaltine Factory

In 1917, The Wander Company opened its first and only US plant in Villa Park. The Ovaltine Factory manufactured a brand of milk flavoring product made with malt extract. It employed over 300 people and maintained employee homes within the village.

The US children’s radio series Little Orphan Annie and Captain Midnight (1931-1956) were sponsored by Ovaltine. Ovaltine jars provided “secret decoder ring” badges, or pins that could be used to decode messages in the program.
